Justin Lin has provided an update on the Jeremy Renner Bourne sequel

August 2, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Director Justin Lin has provided an update for the Bourne sequel film starring Jeremy Renner.

It’s been quite some time since The Bourne Legacy hit cinemas but according to the director of the spinoff’s proposed sequel, the film is in fact still in development. However, its prospects don’t sound tremendously promising.

Boarding the project back in 2013, Lin says he often speaks to Renner but that things won’t be coming together anytime soon.

Speaking to IGN, Lin provided an update for the movie that was supposed to arrive in 2015.

“I talk to Jeremy all the time and, technically, it’s still in-development but look… Jeremy, I’m one of his biggest fans and I think I signed on because we’d been looking for stuff to work together and we still look for stuff to work together. It was just an opportunity at that time. It was actually getting to be really exciting, but I also realized that’s a whole other franchise universe, and so to me, my connection to it is through Jeremy, and we’re finding some really great things to hopefully work together on.”

At this point, it’s unlikely there is tremendous appetite for the movie, particularly as Jason Bourne didn’t quite rock cinema’s as one would have hoped.

And it doesn’t sound like Lin is all that enthused, and could easily hop on board another project with Renner, abandoning Bourne all together.
