Lionsgate keen on more Twilight and The Hunger Games movies

August 9, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Lionsgate scored a couple of big successes with its YA franchises Twilight and The Hunger Games, and although it completed its adaptations of both book series (even managing to get split the finales into two films apiece), it seems the studio is keen on resurrecting both properties.

“There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories,” said Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, who then clarified that the studio would only move forward with the approval of the series’ respective authors, Stephenie Meyer and Suzanne Collins.

The Twilight Saga grossed $3.344 billion across its five movies between 2008 and 2012, with The Hunger Games close behind on $2.968 billion from its fourth instalments. With those kind of numbers, it’s understandable why Lionsgate is keen to extend both franchises
