Milo Gibson is set to star in WWII movie Hurricane

August 9, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Milo Gibson has been cast in the World War II movie Hurricane.

Returning to the genre after his father recently directed him in Hacksaw Ridge starring Andrew Garfield, Gibson will star as Lt. Johnny Kent in the British film.

Hurricane is being produced by Stray Dogs Films and Matt Whyte. David Blair will be directing with plans for principal photography to begin in the U.K. in September.

The younger Gibson made his feature film debut as Lucky Ford in his father’s movie, Hacksaw Ridge. His character in Hurricane is based on Kent, who was a Canadian flight lieutenant who led the RAF 303 squadron of Hawker Hurricane fighter planes.

The planes were flown by Polish pilots during the Battle of Britain after the pilots fled Poland after the Nazi invasion in 1939. Kent managed to shoot down 13 enemy planes during the war, serving in the RAF between 1935 and 1956.
