Yoda and Boba Fett Star Wars spinoffs still in development at Lucasfilm

August 18, 2017 by George Chrysostomou

Following on from reports of an Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel in development at Disney and Lucasfilm, it is now being reported by THR that the previously rumoured Boba Fett film is still under consideration, alongside a Yoda prequel spin-off.

Of course, while this nothing but rumour for now, it is interesting that Lucasfilm wishes to continue its trend of prequel spin-offs of beloved characters with unique story lines. Whilst Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last year was in fact a brand new cast of characters, it played upon the retrieval of the Death Star plans, making it a direct prequel to A New Hope.

With a Han Solo film currently in production and the Obi-Wan movie announcement, it is apparent that Kathleen Kennedy is not looking to slow down the prequel machine any time soon. A Yoda movie certainly has the potential to explore path to becoming a master of the light side, and the much loved green alien certainly deserves to be fleshed out further in his own picture. Perhaps we’ll finally be told what species Yoda (and Yaggle) really are and why he is so strong with the Force!

Are you excited about the prospect of Yoda and Boba Fett Star Wars spinoffs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
