Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson discuss Thor and Valkyrie’s relationship in Thor: Ragnarok, new BTS images released

September 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With Jane Foster out of the picture in Thor: Ragnarok, there’s an opening for a new love interest for the God of Thunder – a position many assumed would be filled by the introduction of Tessa Thompson’s Asgardian warrior Valkyrie. While that remains to be seen, both Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have been speaking about the characters’ relationship during an interview with Collider.

“It’s like Thor’s meeting his hero,” states Hemsworth. “He’s absolutely smitten by her, and because of her history being Valkyrie and all that. But she’s also this beautiful woman, so he’s kind of caught off guard. She could have him if she wanted. I think he hasn’t come up against that very often.”

“Valkyrie becomes sort of a part of this team,” adds Thompson. “When we meet her, she’s hanging out on another planet called Sakaar and she is sort of this Asgardian expat … She meets Thor and Hulk, and she has sort of a similar goal that they do. They become friends and kind of teammates in a way.”
