Marvel’s Inhumans premieres to modest ratings

September 30, 2017 by Gary Collinson

After a difficult marketing campaign, near-universally negative reviews, and an underwhelming IMAX release earlier this month, Marvel Television’s latest series Inhumans finally made its way to the small screen last night as it premiered on ABC.

Despite the negative buzz around the series, Inhumans managed to draw solid if not spectacular ratings in its Friday night spot, scoring a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic for its first hour with 3.9 million viewers in total, and a 0.8 rating and 3.63 million viewers for its second hour.

These numbers were down considerably on the premieres of fellow ABC Marvel shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (a whopping 12.12 million viewers in 2013) and Agent Carter (6.9 million viewers in 2015).

Inhumans did manage to outperform the Live+same day season averages for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four (0.8) and Agent Carter (0.7), although given that the latter has been cancelled, and the former would have been cancelled if not for Disney, it’s probably not looking too good for showrunner Scott Buck and his planned three-season arc.

What did you make of Inhumans’ premiere? Let us know in the comments below…
