Disney developing Hocus Pocus TV reboot

October 4, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that The Disney Channel is in early development on a TV movie reboot of the cult classic Hocus Pocus, which starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy who are inadvertently resurrected in present day Salem, Massachusetts.

The reboot is being penned by Scarlett Lacey (The Royals), with the film’s original producer David Kirschner serving as executive producer. It will however feature a new cast, with a new director also coming on board.

Released in 1993, Hocus Pocus was a modest success at the box office, but has become a firm cult favourite thanks to DVD and TV airings. Rumours of a sequel have circulated over the past few years, with the original cast expressing their interest in returning, although this TV reboot seems to have put an end to those plans.
