Arthur Curry preps for a fight in new Aquaman image

December 29, 2017 by Ricky Church

A few weeks ago we got our first look at James Wans’ Aquaman in thanks to an image from EW, and now we have another look at the next DC superhero film. Released by USA Today, the new photo, which seems to be a continuation of sorts from the previous one, and shows Aquaman prepping for a fight against an unseen figure. Check it out below…

There’s not too much to go on in the photo, but its clear Aquaman is facing someone with a sword and/or spear of some kind. Fans have been speculating this is an encounter with the film’s antagonist, Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Manteen II. Manta is one of Aquaman’s biggest enemies, if not his main one. He was recently added to Injustice 2 as a playable character in the game’s second DLC pack.

Abdul-Manteen recently spoke about his role as Black Manta, stating that: “The scale is epic and this movie is going to be so good. I can’t say too much, but in the hands of James Wan and with Jason Momoa at the helm, I think people are going to be really happy with it. It’s been about five days a week in the gym and doing fight training, too.”

Aquaman is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Ludi Lin as Murk, Michael Beach as Jesse Kane, Otis Dhanji as a young Arthur Curry and Graham McTavish in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on December 21st 2018.
