Mega Man 11 officially announced for 2018

December 5, 2017 by Jordan Jones

He’s back! While it’s not the Mighty No. 9 sequel everyone has been hoping for, this is the next best thing. Capcom is actively working on Mega Man 11, and if footage is anything to go by, fans are in for a delightful platforming treat. Check out the announcement trailer here…

What one immediately notices is that the game is taking the more traditional approach — as seen in Mega Man 9, and 10 — and making it absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, is this the first time that Mega Man’s form actively changes when acquiring a new ability? Look at this concept art…

It really seems like Capcom has struck a perfect balance with the visuals; the game is reminiscent of older Mega Man titles, but is also something entirely new. They bring Mega Man to 3D in a way that series creator Keiji Inafune tried to do with his Mighty No. 9 project, but perhaps went too far with. Now, beyond the visuals, it looks like it’s the same Mega Man that we are used to, and that’s not a bad thing by any stretch. Who knows? Maybe the visuals aren’t the only change made in this installment.

Mega Man 11 is releasing in late 2018 — to coincide with the character’s 30th anniversary — for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more news!

… You can find Jordan on Twitter, and Facebook.
