Meow Wolf and XSplit announce the Galaga World Championship

December 18, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Santa Fe based art collective Meow Wolf and live streaming extraordinaire XSplit have announced Score Wars.  The first Score Wars to be live streamed will be the classic shoot ’em up Galaga and will bring together the very best Galaga players in the world.  This epic 4 day event will run from 29th March until 1st April and offer a $10,000 top prize.

The Score Wars: Galaga World Championship event will include Pro and Amateur Level competitions and will see the qualifying pros take on established elites such as Philip Day, Andrew Barrow and Andrew Laidlaw in marathon mode runs for the $10k top prize.  Amateur level players will qualify on site and compete for the chance to win a $1,500 top prize.

“Video games have been such a huge influence for Meow Wolf over the years. We are millennials who grew up with gaming as integral components of our lives.” said Meow Wolf CEO Vince Kadlubek. “Of all the retro games, BANDAI NAMCO’s Galaga is one of the most influential to Meow Wolf’s aesthetic.”

“It’s an awesome opportunity to be able to partner with Meow Wolf. XSplit has powered live streams and events but nothing quite like this. The team has a unique vision: taking a world-renowned classic game such as Galaga and reinvigorating it with the magic and wonder Meow Wolf has become known for.” said John Howe-Marshall, Chief Marketing Officer of SplitmediaLabs
