Tommy Wiseau has officially announced a 3D version of The Room

January 30, 2018 by Jordan Jones

For being a god-awful film, Tommy Wiseau’s The Room isn’t doing half bad for itself. Not only has the film achieved cult status over the years, with showings being consistently sold-out worldwide, but it has even been adapted into a critically-adored biopic (filmopic?) entitled The Disaster Artist starring James Franco.

Honestly, whoever thought that we would hear the words Tommy Wiseau, and Oscar mentioned in the same sentence? While, unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Wiseau stand alongside James Franco at the 90th Academy Awards this year to celebrate a win for The Disaster Artist, Wiseau has just informed us that there is something else to look forward to.

Sure, you’ve seen The Room. However, you haven’t seen The Room… in 3D. That’s right. Put the eye-drops down because you’ve read that correctly. On Twitter, when asked if we would ever see The Room in 4K quality, Wiseau not only confirmed 4K, but another way to watch as well:

5.1
4K
3D https://t.co/pbvnOeT5js

Well, that’s it. We’ve reached the apex of what 3D can do for cinema. Forget silly things like Avatar. Forget Avengers: Infinity War. Once we are able to see Johnny, and Mark play catch… with a 3D football… when that happens, well, then 3D can pretty much retire as a technology. Runner up: a 3D empty water bottle coming right at viewers faces.

… You can find Jordan on Twitter, and Facebook.
