Mackenzie Davis in talks for key role in Terminator reboot

March 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we may have our first new addition to the cast of director Tim Miller and producer James Cameron’s Terminator reboot, with Variety reporting that Halt and Catch Fire and Blade Runner 2049 actress Mackenzie Davis is in talks to join the film.

According to the site, Davis would be “one of the new faces of the rebooted franchise”, and is both Miller and Skydance’s top choice for the role, although her casting needs to be signed off by Cameron. Assuming a deal is closed, Davis will join the returning Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800 and Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor.

While the role is being kept under wraps, it is understood that it is not the new female lead character of Dani Ramos, and that search is still ongoing.

The new Terminator is set for release on July 26th 2019, and will serve as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, ignoring the subsequent three sequels.
