Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ken Jeong and Chris Parnell cast in Goosebumps sequel Slappy Halloween

March 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was announced that Sony Pictures had found its young leads for the upcoming Goosebumps sequel, and now comes word from Variety that the film has added Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Ken Jeong (The Hangover) and Chris Parnell (30 Rock).

The trio join Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Ben O’Brien (Manchester By the Sea), Caleel Harris (Think Like a Man), and Jeremy Ray Taylor (It) in the film, which is being directed by Ari Sandel (The DUFF) from a script by Rob Lieber (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) and is said to be one of “multiple” Goosebumps projects in development at the studio following the Jack Black-headlined original.

Although plot details for the new movie are being kept under wraps, it has been reported that the sequel will be going by the title Goosebumps: Slappy’s Revenge and will focus on three young friends who have to team up to stop Slappy the dummy from starting the Halloween apocalypse.

UPDATE: Well, it turns out the official title is Goosebumps: Slappy Halloween, as revealed by author R.L. Stine on Twitter today…
