Joe Manganiello confirms that Deathstroke movie is still “in the works”

April 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having originally been cast as Slade Wilson to star in Ben Affleck’s version of The Batman prior to Matt Reeves coming on board as director and shaking things up, it was announced in October of last year that Joe Manganiello would be headlining a Deathstroke solo movie from The Raid helmer Gareth Evans.

Manganiello made his debut as the mercenary in a post-credits scene of Justice League, although the lacklustre box office performance of the DC team-up movie led to a major shake-up at DC Films, with the fate of many projects seemingly up in the air.

Well, it seems we can add Deathstroke to the list of DC projects still in development at Warner Bros., with Manganiello confirming to Variety that: “There are things in the works. That’s all I can say.”

Of course, just because “there are things in the works” doesn’t necessarily mean the project will move ahead, but even if the solo movie doesn’t become a reality one would have to assume we’ll see Manganiello’s Deathstroke popping up elsewhere in a future DC movie.

Still, a Gareth Evans-directed Deathstroke movie could be something special, so let’s hope it comes together…
