Rumour: Black Widow movie will be a prequel, may feature The Winter Soldier

April 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in January of this year it was reported that Marvel finally looks ready to deliver a Black Widow movie, with the studio tapping Jac Schaeffer (The Shower) to pen a solo film for Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff.

Well, amid all the current Avengers: Infinity War excitement, That Hashtag Show has popped up with a new rumour about the Black Widow movie, with the site claiming that it will serve as a prequel and may also include an appearance from Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier.

“The film will find Natasha living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union,” reads the report. “That timeline places the film firmly in the mid-2000s, meaning we’ll meet up with Nat prior to the events of Iron Man 2. That time frame opens up plenty of options, and while many fans seem to want a Black Widow/Hawkeye team up in Budapest, we’ve been told that early discussions about the film involved Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier.”

As we’ve seen with Captain America: The First Avenger and the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, Marvel isn’t averse to going back in time, and with the Black Widow, a prequel exploring her past does seem to be the logical way to go for a solo movie. Let us know what you make of the rumours in the comments below…
