Elisabeth Shue joins Amazon’s superhero drama The Boys

May 18, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Oscar-nominated actress Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Last Vegas, Back to the Future) has signed on for a series regular role in The Boys, Amazon’s upcoming superhero drama from Supernatural’s Eric Kripke and Preacher’s Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name, The Boys takes place in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and follows a group of vigilantes known as ‘The Boys’, who take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

Shue is set to play the character of Madelyn Stillwell, whose character description reads:

“Corporate and formidable Madelyn is the Vice President of Hero Management for Vought, in charge of the public persona as well as the assignments of the Superheroes. Madelyn is a tough negotiator who rides roughshod over public relations dilemmas, such as when Superhero A-Train accidentally kills an innocent bystander and damage control needs to be done at any price, or when a city Mayor requests a Superhero for his own beleaguered town.”

The Boys is set to hit Amazon Prime in 2019 and features a cast that includes Karl Urban (Thor: Ragnarok), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), Laz Alonso (Traffik), Antony Starr (American Gothic), Dominique McElligott (The Last Tycoon), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Erin Moriarty (True Detective), Jessie T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence), Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas) and Nathan Mitchell (iZombie).
