What We Do In the Shadows TV reboot gets a series order from FX

May 4, 2018 by Gary Collinson

After scoring a pilot order back in January, it has now been announced that What We Do In the Shadows has been ordered to series by FX.

The reboot of the cult 2014 movie is being executive produced by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, with Waititi directing and Clement writing.

It will however focus on a new cast of vampires living in New York City, with Kayvan Novak as Nandor, the head vampire of the house, Matt Berry as Lazslo, the goofiest in the house and the type of vampire who turns into a bat and flies into a wall,  Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, the badass female vampire of the house, and Harvey Guillen as Nandor’s assistant.

“What We Do in the Shadows only gets better with age thanks to this brilliant adaptation for television by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi,” states Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “Their feature version was a hilarious, fresh take on the mundanity of everyday life that even immortals must face. We are thankful to them, Paul Simms and Scott Rudin, and this amazing cast for taking us deeper into the shadows with this series.”

What We Do In the Shadows has received a ten-episode order from FX, and is slated to premiere in the spring of 2019.
