Last month it was announced that Transformers: The Last Knight actress Isabela Moner has been cast in the title role in the Michael Bay-produced Dora the Explorer movie, and now comes word that Instructions Not Included and Overboard’s Eugenio Derbez is also joining the project.
The Dora the Explorer film reunites The Muppets director James Bobin and screenwriter Nicholas Stoller, the latter of whom has co-written the screenplay with Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the movie will follow a teenage Dora as she sets off on an adventure with her monkey Boots and cousin Diego.
Running for 172 episodes across eight seasons on Nickelodeon between 2000 and 2014, the Dora the Explorer TV series has spawned a host of merchandise, books, stage adaptations, and video games, as well as the sequel series Dora and Friends: Into the City and spinoff Go, Diego, Go!.
Dora The Explorer is set for release on August 2nd, 2019.
