Lauren Ridloff joins The Walking Dead season 9 as Connie

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Tony Award-nominated actress and former Miss Deaf America Lauren Ridloff (Children of a Lesser God) has been cast in a multi-episode arc in the upcoming ninth season of The Walking Dead.

Ridloff has been cast as Connie, who in the comic books is a member of a new group of survivors led by Magna, who come to live in Alexandria.

The TV version of the character is described as “a seasoned survivor deft at using her senses to read people, situations, and trouble. Her character is deaf and uses American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate.”

The Walking Dead will return to AMC in October under new showrunner Angela Kang, and will mark the final season of the show for both Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Rhee.
