Melanie Liburd upped to series regular for This is Us season 3, Michael Angarano to guest star

August 24, 2018 by Ricky Church

NBC’s This is Us has made Melanie Liburd (Dark Matter) a series regular for its upcoming third season. She starred in a guest role in the season two finale of the series, but now joins as a new addition in light of the flash-forward shown in the finale’s final moments.

Liburd starred as Zoe, the cousin to Susan Kelechi Watson’s Beth. She had some chemistry with Kevin, played by Justin Hartley, and in the flash-forward they were shown to be in a relationship and on their way to Vietnam so Kevin could learn more about his father’s time during the Vietnam War.

On the note of Jack’s Vietnam experiences, the series has also cast Michael Angarano (I’m Dying Up Here) to guest star as Jack’s younger brother Nicky. It was revealed Jack had a younger brother who died in Vietnam during the second season, but he rarely ever talks about him because his memory is too painful to bring up. The third season is set to explore this unknown period of Jack’s life and what happened to Nicky.

This Is Us stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan. It will premieres Tuesday, September 25 at 9 PM on NBC.
