Geralt of Rivia voice actor Doug Cockle endorses Henry Cavill’s casting

September 5, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

It had been a source of much guessing and wishful thinking for fans of The Witcher series of games since it was announced last year that Netflix were developing a show based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels.

Among the favourite picks were Man of Steel and moustachioed Mission Impossible star Henry Cavill, and those rooting for him to will have been delighted by yesterday’s announcement that he has been cast as Geralt of Rivia.

Well it seems he has now been given one of the most important endorsements in the entire kingdom, with Geralt of Rivia’s original voice actor, Doug Cockle, whose gravelled tone has become synonymous with the role, giving him vote of confidence via Twitter.

People keep asking… so… let me go on record saying I think that #HenryCavill will do a great job as #GeraltOfRivia ! He'll make it his own of course, as well he should, and I can't wait to see what @LHissrich and the whole @netflix team create. It's gonna be #Magic 😀🦄

The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia, one of the world’s most powerful Witchers. A breed of hunters who are trained from a young age with supernatural abilities to destroy evil and deadly monsters of all kinds. The Netflix 8-part series should bow sometime after 2020.
