S.J. Clarkson and Bart Layton join Yann Demange on Bond 25 director shortlist

September 9, 2018 by Gary Collinson

As EON and MGM continue their search for Danny Boyle’s replacement, Variety is reporting that two more names have emerged as possible contenders for the director’s chair on Bond 25.

According to the site, S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones), Bart Layton (American Animals) have joined the long-rumoured Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) as the top three picks on the shortlist, although “more meetings could be made”.

Clarkson recently signed on to direct Star Trek 4, becoming the first female filmmaker to helm a Star Trek movie, and should she sign on for Bond, she’d also be the first female director to tackle a 007 film.

Demange has long been mentioned as a possible director, even before Danny Boyle first came on board the project, and last month it was reported that he was back in the frame alongside David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water), Jean-Marc Vallee (Big Little Lies) and Edgar Wright (Baby Driver).

Bond 25 was originally scheduled for release in late 2019, but is expected to be pushed back from that date in the wake of the director switch-up.
