Stephen King says Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House comes close to “genius”

October 17, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Horror mastermind Stephen King has praised Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, saying that the show comes close to “genius”.

Horror is undoubtedly undergoing a bit of resurgence these days, with many wonderful films and TV shows delighting fans with their scares and creativity. One new show that has gotten a lot of people talking is The Haunting of Hill House.

The series is a Netflix original and is a new telling of Shirley Jackson’s novel. Legendary horror author Stephen King is a big fan of the adaptation and has taken to Twitter to praise it.

King said: “The Haunting of Hill House, revised and remodeled by Mike Flanagan. I don’t usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great. Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve, but who knows for sure.”

The Haunting of Hill House is a modern reimagining of Shirley Jackson’s legendary novel of the same name, about five siblings who grew up in the most famous haunted house in America. Now adults, they’re reunited by the suicide of their youngest sister, which forces them to finally confront the ghosts of their own pasts… some which lurk in their minds… and some which may really be lurking in the shadows of the iconic Hill House.

The Haunting of Hill House is available to watch now on Netflix.
