True Detective season 3 gets a new trailer

HBO has released a new look at the upcoming third season of its mystery series True Detective starring Mahershala Ali (Moonlight). The new season of the anthology series sees Ali as a detective investigating a murder of two missing children in the heart of the Ozarks, a case which spans three different time periods of his life. Watch the trailer below…

True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto returns to the series, serving as showrunner, producer and writer for the series. Pizzolatto wrote all but one of the episodes in the third season with episode 4 being co-written by David Milch (Deadwood). Pizzolatto will also make his directorial debut with one of the episodes while the rest are directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room).

Joining Ali in the cast of the third season are Stephen Dorff, Carmen Ejogo, Josh Hopkins, Scott McNairy, Mamie Gummer, Jodi Balfour, Lonnie Chavis, Ray Fisher, Michael Greyeyes, Jon Tenney, Rhys Wakefield, Sarah Gadon, Emily Nelson, Brandon Flynn, and Michael Graziadei.

Partner detectives investigate a macabre crime involving two missing children in the heart of the Ozarks, Arkansas. The story spans three decades.

True Detective Season 3 premieres on HBO on January 13th.
