After picking up seven Oscar nominations last week, Marvel’s Black Panther has another reason to celebrate, with the superhero blockbuster honoured with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture during last night’s 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Fresh from their Golden Globe successes, Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Glenn Close (The Wife) received a major boost to their Oscar chances, having been named Best Male Actor and Best Female Actor respectively. Of the 25 winners in those categories over the years, 20 actors went on to scoop the Academy Award, along with 18 actresses.
On the TV front, there were three wins for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Best Female Actor – Rachel Bosnahan, Best Male Actor – Tony Shalhoub, and Best Comedy Ensemble), while This Is Us received the award for Best Drama Ensemble. Check out a full list of the winners here…
