Bond 25 rumoured (again) to be titled Shatterhand

February 22, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Days after it was announced that the film’s release date had been pushed back once again, reports are now circulating that Bond 25 is set to begin production in April under the title / working title of Shatterhand.

Now, if you’ve been keeping up to date with news of Daniel Craig’s fifth and final 007 outing, you may recall that Shatterhand was rumoured as the title for the film way back in 2017, when The Mirror claimed that the movie would also be adapting Raymond Benson’s novel Never Dream of Dying – a report that was swiftly debunked by the author.

The term ‘Shatterhand’ has featured in the Bond franchise, being an alias for the character of Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Ian Fleming’s You Only Live Twice.

While outlets such as The Guardian appear to be treating this as fact, it’s worth noting that Production Weekly is frequently incorrect (we’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve been contacted by studios debunking its “production start date” reports). So, until we get actual confirmation, I strongly suspect they may have simply take the title from the earlier rumour.

Bond 25 is set to be directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (Maniac, Beasts of No Nation) and features the return of Daniel Craig as 007, Ben Whishaw as Q, Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann.
