Marvel’s Black Widow movie undergoing a rewrite

With Marvel’s Black Widow movie lined up for release in 2020 and reportedly eyeing a June production start date, Collider is reporting that Ned Benson (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby) has been brought in to do a rewrite of the script for the long-awaited solo film.

Black Widow is being directed by Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome) will see Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff, for what is expected to be a prequel movie exploring the character’s defection to the United States and her early days in S.H.I.E.L.D..

The first draft of Black Widow was written by Jac Schaeffer (TiMER), while Benson has been working on a script entitled My Aryan Princess for Pascal Pictures, which is reportedly being viewed as a starring vehicle for Scarlett Johansson.

Although it is yet to officially be announced by Marvel, the Black Widow movie is thought to be slated for release on May 1st 2020.
