Warner Bros. reportedly scraps Jared Leto’s Joker solo movie and Harley Quinn team-up film

February 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Well, we’ve seen the last of Ben Affleck’s Batman, and now if a new rumour is to be believed, it seems we may have seen the last of Jared Leto’s Joker too.

According to Forbes, Warner Bros. has decided to scrap its plans for the long-rumoured Joker vs. Harley Quinn film from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love, This Is Us), as well as the Leto-led solo movie that was announced last June.

Leto – who is about to start shooting Sony’s Marvel movie Morbius, the Living Vampire – made his first (and potentially only) appearance as the Clown Prince of Crime in 2016’s Suicide Squad, although his take on the iconic Batman villain wasn’t particularly well received by the majority of fans.

While The Joker’s future in the DC Extended Universe appears to be up in the air now, we will be seeing the character on the big screen this October as Joaquin Phoenix takes on the role for Warner and DC Films’ standalone Joker movie.

Will you be disappointed if we’ve seen the last of Leto’s Joker? Could WB and DC Films recast the role for a future DCEU appearance? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on our social channels…
