Cillian Murphy the latest actor tipped to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond

March 9, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although Daniel Craig hasn’t even started filming his final outing as 007 yet, there’s already been an enormous amount of speculation as to who’ll become the next actor to take on the role of Ian Fleming’s super spy James Bond following the release of 2002’s Bond 25.

The likes of Idris Elba (Luther), Tom Hiddleston (Avengers: Infinity War), Tom Hardy (Dunkirk), Jamie Bell (Donnybrook), Aidan Turner (Poldark), Richard Madden (Bodyguard) and Damian Lewis (Homeland) are among the many names linked to the coveted part over the past couple of years, and now it seems we can add Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy to the list.

According to reports, there’s been a surge in betting on Murphy to succeed Craig, leading bookmaker’s to slash the odds on the Irish actor.

“Everybody is getting excited about the new series of Peaky Blindersand it seems as though [gamblers] are no different,” said a spokesperson for Coral to the Daily Mirror. “We’ve been inundated with bets lately on Murphy landing the role as the next James Bond and he’s certainly a leading candidate now.”

Now, it is of course worth noting that Peaky Blinders fans backing him at the bookies doesn’t necessarily mean there’s been any interest in Murphy from the Bond producers, but let us know in the comments below if you think he’d make a good fit for 007…
