The Russos to oversee remakes of several classic MGM titles

April 18, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

As they prepare to challenge James Cameron for the biggest movie of all time with the release of this month’s Avengers: Endgame, filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo and their AGBO Films production company have signed a deal to oversee remakes of several classics from the MGM library.

Included as part of the deal is the previously announced remake of The Thomas Crown Affair starring Michael B. Jordan, while other projects will include new versions of The Secret of Nimh, The Pink Panther, It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and Poltergeist (again).

After bringing the curtain down on Marvel’s ‘Infinity Saga’ this month with Endgame, the Russos are set to reunite with Spider-Man and Avengers star Tom Holland for their next directorial effort Cherry, which will see Holland playing an Iraq War veteran who turns to robbing banks in order to pay his medical bills and cope with PTSD.
