Avengers: Endgame directors explain why there was no post-credits scene

May 1, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Endgame, have explained why there was no post-credits scene for the movie.

Something that fans have come to expect with MCU movies is a post-credits scene to tease future events, but many were surprised to learn that Avengers: Endgame has no such scene at the end of the film.

Why? Well, quite simply because there is nothing more to tease. Joe Russo explained to USA Today that there was no post-credits scene because this was the end of the current storyline:

“It was never in the cards. It was called ‘Endgame’ for a reason. This is it. This is the ending. The book is closed on that chapter of the Marvel universe and a new book will get written.”

“This was the first Marvel movie we’ve done where we weren’t thinking about the future,” Anthony added.

Of course, fans can expect the post-credits scenes to return in the next chapter of the MCU, teasing future events and upcoming movies in the process.
