Elite Dangerous gets fleet carriers in December update

July 6, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Frontier, developer and publisher of Elite Dangerous, announced new features coming to the game in the September and December updates at the Lavecon Elite Dangerous fan event.

Firstly, in the December update, Frontier released a first glimpse teaser which premieres the Fleet Carrier. You can watch the teaser trailer here…

Meanwhile, in the September update to Elite Dangerous, players will receive a brand-new in-ship starter experience that offers a whole new starting experience from the cockpit of the player’s first ship. The experience will offer clearer instructions and guidance during the beginning of the game, intended to provide a more simple way to learn the basics of Elite Dangerous. This training will include a number of lessons for newcomers including basic flight controls and scanning, supercruise and navigation, a combat exercise around a megaship, and a Hyperspace Jump and docking at a Starport.

Also in September, Frontier Points will be reworked and re-named Arx across all platforms. This new currency, which can be purchased using real money or earned by playing the game or participating in regular in-game events, can be used to buy items such as paint jobs, ship kits and bobbleheads.
