Final Fantasy VIII Remastered release date revealed with new trailer

August 20, 2019 by Liam Waddington

The long awaited Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 3rd September 2019. You can watch the reveal trailer here…

Originally announced at the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference, the remastered version of Final Fantasy 8 will include enhanced visuals and a battle assist that allows players to activate a booster to max out your HP and ATB bars, and trigger Limit Breaks at any time. Additionally, there will be an option to turn off encounters so you can explore freely and a 3x speed boost option to accelerates time by a factor of three to speed through battles or get to another location in a hurry.

For anyone unaware, Final Fantasy 8 – arguably the best in the franchise – follows a group of young mercenaries, led by Squall Leonhart, as they are on a quest to stop Ultimecia, a sorceress from the future who wishes to compress time.

Final Fantasy 8 joins the growing list of remasters within the series – including 7, 9, 10, 10-2, and 12 on current generation consoles and PC on 3rd September. However, for anyone who pre-orders the game on PlayStation 4 will receive a commemorative theme, while those who pre-purchase on Steam will receive exclusive wallpapers featuring Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly.
