Physical release of The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure arrives at retailers next month

August 8, 2019 by Andrew Newton

XR Games and Perp Games have announced that The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure will get a physical release on 6th September.  Combining TV and VR, this game provides a fresh new take on co-op multiplayer by enabling one player to use VR and up to three others to play simultaneously via the TV.

In The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure Red and his fellow birds have become frenemies with Leonard and the Pigs to face a new enemy that threatens both of their islands.

Players will need to protect the submarine and keep it moving through a series of levels in order to reach the new threat on Eagle Island.  Players using the VR will be the sub’s captain and be responsible for using their Magnashot slingshot to suck up and throw objects, use plungers to grab treasure and fire torpedoes at deep sea threats.  Up to three friends can then work together on a single TV screen to craft ammo, repair machinery and store the treasure.

“At Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, we believe that VR should be social, cooperative and fun. We’re excited about XR Games’ unique take on The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR game because friends and frenemies alike can team up and work toward a common goal. I dare anyone to play this game and not have a blast,” said Jake Zim, SVP, Virtual Reality, Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“VR is an exciting medium, but there are not yet enough games that can be enjoyed with family and friends in the real world. We saw an opportunity to introduce new players to PS VR by making a game in which VR and TV players have different viewpoints and responsibilities within the same funny, team-spirited game,” said Bobby Thandi, Founder and CEO at XR Games.

Look out for The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure arriving in retail stores across Europe and North America on 6th September.
