Dan Aykroyd confirms that he’ll appear in Ghostbusters 2020

September 15, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Franchise co-creator and star Dan Aykroyd has confirmed that he’ll be making an appearance in next year’s Ghostbusters 2020, director Jason Reitman’s return to the original Ghostbusters continuity established by his father Ivan Reitman with the original 1984 movie and its 1989 sequel.

“Ivan Reitman’s son Jason has written a new movie, called — well, it’s gonna be Ghostbusters, the third movie,” said Aykroyd during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “It’ll be all or most of the original people. And then young stars. It’s gonna be great. I’m so excited about it, and it’s just wonderful to be able to go back and revisit that. I don’t do the pictures anymore much, and I’m in that one.”

Aykroyd will be joined in the new movie by original co-stars Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett) and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz), both of whom have previously confirmed their involvement, while Ernie Hudson has also said he expects to return. As for Bill Murray, Aykroyd went on to tell Joe Rogan that they are “hoping” he’ll be involved.
