Nightwing debuts in trailer for Titans’ season 2 finale

November 22, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

DC Universe has released a promo for the season 2 finale of Titans which gives us our first look at Brenton Thwaites’ Dick Grayson suited up as Nightwing as he goes head to head with Deathstroke; watch it here…

“It’s such a big deal, becoming [Nightwing], and we didn’t just want him to show up in the suit,” said showrunner Greg Walker with regards to Dick Grayson’s journey from Robin to Nightwing (via EW). “It had to be a representation of where he evolved as a character over the course of those two seasons.. Where we meet him in episode 1 of the show is, he’s in exile from his dysfunctional relationship with Bruce Wayne [Iain Glen]. He’s really ambivalent about being Robin at all. At one point he burns the suit. So he has a real complicated relationship with the suit… We always felt that he needed to go on season 2 as this kind of journey of recognizing what mistakes he made in the past, assessing himself, trying to figure out his relationship with Bruce, and then evolving past Robin. Because if he’s not Robin anymore, then who is he?”

In this action-packed, live-action series, Dick Grayson, aka the former Robin (series star BRENTON THWAITES), emerges from the shadows to lead a band of new heroes – including Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and others. DC UNIVERSE’s first original series follows this group of young heroes as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the iconic Teen Titans franchise.

Titans season 2 airs on Fridays on DC Universe.
