Peyton Reed signs on to direct Ant-Man 3 for Marvel

November 1, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It seems we can officially add another movie to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe slate, with THR reporting that Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has signed on to helm a third movie in the superhero series.

According to the site, the as-yet-untitled Ant-Man 3 will shoot after fellow MCU sequels Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, with production slated for late 2020 / early 2021. Paul Rudd is expected to return for his fifth appearance as Scott Lang, and he’ll presumably once again be joined by Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, having shared top billing with The Wasp in the 2018 sequel.

While a release date is yet to be announced, Ant-Man 3 is said to be eyeing a 2022 date, which would put it part of Marvel’s Phase Five slate alongside Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Captain Marvel 2, Blade and Fantastic Four. Expect that to fill out with a few more titles, as Marvel makes a push to release between three and four movies per year.

Are you excited about the prospect of a third Ant-Man movie? What would you like to see from the sequel? Let us know in the comments below, or reach out on social media @flickeringmyth…
