Netflix dominates 77th annual Golden Globe Awards nominations

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominations for the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards, and its proven to be good news for Netflix with the streaming service picking up a host of nominations in both the film and TV categories, including Marriage Story, The Irishman, The Crown and Unbelievable.

Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story leads the field with six nominations including Best Drama, Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Adam Driver) and Best Actress (Scarlett Johansson), while both Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood amassed five nominations apiece (and unlike Baumback, both Scorsese and Tarantino are up for Best Director alongside Bong Joon Ho for Parasite, Todd Phillips for Joker, and Sam Mendes for 1917).

Phillips’ Joker also kept up its Oscar hopes, with further nominations for Best Drama, Best Actor (Joaquin Phoenix) and Best Score, while The Two Popes also finds itself contesting four categories. You can check out the full list of nominations across both the movie and TV categories here…
