Shadow Man remastered announced for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC

March 19, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Nightdive Studios and Valiant Entertainment have announced Shadow Man, the classic action-adventure game originally released on the N64 (and later PlayStation, Dreamcast, and PC), will be remastered and released sometime next year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG.

In Shadow Man, you play as Michael LeRoi, a supernatural hero known as Shadow Man who has to travel between the Liveside and the Deadside (the place where lost souls spend an eternity in torment) to stop a marauding band of villains from unleashing unspeakable horrors upon the world.

The game will be remastered using Nightdive’s proprietary KEX engine, which will include the reintroduction of missing content cut from the original game, refined gameplay, 4K widescreen display, refined art, audio, and assets, HDR rendering, dynamic shadow mapping, dynamic per-pixel lighting, antialiasing, and other post-process effects, and a higher density of particle effects.

Nightdive’s KEX engine has been previously used to restore other classic video games including System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood: Fresh Supply, and Forsaken Remastered.

“Our goal with the remaster is to give today’s generation of gamers all the features that they expect from a modern title while preserving the qualities that made Valiant’s iconic character and the original Shadow Man game such memorable classics to begin with,” said Stephen Kick, CEO at Nightdive Studios.

Will you be picking up the remaster of Shadow Man when it is released next year? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FMyth_Gaming…
