The Amazing Spider-Man 2 screenwriter working on new Marvel movie for Sony

March 15, 2020 by Gary Collinson

As Sony looks to build out its Universe of Marvel Characters with this year’s Morbius and Venom 2, The Wrap is reporting that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-writer Roberto Orci has signed on to pen a new Marvel project for the studio.

Details on the new project are being kept under wraps, although the report suggests that while it will exist in the same shared universe as Venom and Morbius, it may not actually be Spider-Man related and “the property comes from a different corner of the Marvel universe that Sony has access to.” Quite what that could be is anyone’s guess…

Along with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Orci’s other screenwriter credits include Mission: Impossible 3, Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek, Star Trek into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond, and The Mummy.

Next up from Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters is the Jared Leto-headlined Morbius, which is scheduled to open in cinemas on July 31st. Venom 2 meanwhile is currently in production ahead of an October 2nd 2020 release.
