Warner Bros. shifts release dates for The Batman, The Flash and Shazam! 2

April 20, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Following the path of many film studios, Warner Bros. and DC Films are shifting some of their release dates around due to the ongoing global health crisis.

The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves was originally slated for release on June 25th 2021, but will now launch on October 1st 2021. The news follows production on the film halting in late March.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has also shuffled release dates for two DC Extended Universe superhero movies in The Flash (moving from August 1st 2022, to June 2nd 2022) and Shazam! 2 (shifting from April 1st 2022 to November 4th 2022). The studio also has Aquaman 2 slated for December 16th 2022, and as yet there’s no word as to whether that date will be impacted.

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.
