Fallout 76 free to play this weekend, 2020 roadmap revealed

May 15, 2020 by Andrew Newton

This weekend Bethesda are offering a free-play weekend for Fallout 76 and its new Wastelanders content.  As well as a free weekend of frantic survival in the post apocalyptic lands of Appalachia, Bethesda has also revealed a comprehensive 2020 roadmap for Fallout 76 that introduces seasons.

Seasons is a new account-wide progression system to the game and will allow players to earn a range of new and unique rewards ranging from Power Armor paints and C.A.M.P. items to Atoms, Perk Packs and more.  This new system overhauls the old Challenge system and instead players will earn a new currency called S.C.O.R.E. points that will advance them in their seasonal progression.

Starting with Patch 20 (releasing this summer), players will see a new option on the main menu and clicking this will take them through to the seasonal progression screen, which for Season 1 will be a Captain Cosmos themed boardgame. Everyone will start on the first space on this board and by gaining the new S.C.O.R.E. points will advance along the board.

S.C.O.R.E. points can be gained by carrying out new challenges and these will be much easier to complete, consisting of activities that would normally be completed just by playing the game.

Seasons will run for a 10 week period with a two-week break between the end of one season the start of the next.

Make sure to venture into the wasteland this weekend and try your hand at helping rebuild America.
