Spider-Man’s J.K. Simmons says he’s already shot his next J. Jonah Jameson appearance

June 25, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having portrayed the character so memorably in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy, J.K. Simmons made a shock return to the role of J. Jonah Jameson in the post-credits scene of last year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now the Oscar-winner has revealed that he’s already shot his next appearance as the Daily Bugle’s editor-in-chief and nemesis to the web-slinger.

“Well yeah, that’s the short answer,” revealed Simmons on a recent appearance on SiriuXM’s The Jess Cagle Show when he was asked if we’ll see him back as Jameson again. “There is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several-year hiatus. He showed up very briefly for those who were wise enough to stay through the credits of Far from Home… There is one more JJJ appearance in the can, and from what I’m hearing there’s a plan for yet another. So hopefully JJJ will continue now and forever.”

It seems safe to assume that the Far From Home follow-up will fill one of those two spots, presumably the latter given that filming is yet to get underway on the wall-crawler’s next outing. As for the appearance that’s “in the can”, it has been rumoured that Simmons’ Jameson could cross cinematic universes with a role in the Jared Leto-headlined Morbius, part of the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is another possibility, as are Marvel Studios’ Black Widow or Eternals perhaps with another post-credits Daily Bugle video to set up Spidey 3?

Are you looking forward to seeing more of Simmons’ JJJ in the MCU (or the SPUMC)? Let us know in the comments or on our social channels @flickeringmyth…
