Charlize Theron would love to do an Atomic Blonde crossover with John Wick

July 16, 2020 by Liam Waddington

While the prospect of a crossover between the Atomic Blonde and John Wick franchises seems highly unlikely, Charlize Theron has offered her thoughts on the hypothetical feature film involving herself and Keanu Reeves.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Theron expressed her interest in working with Keanu Reeves once again and admits she’ll immediately be there if the creators could find a way for the two properties to crossover.

“Listen, as soon as I get the call, I’ll be there. They just have to tell me where, when and I’ll show up,” Theron said. “Keanu is one of my most favourite people in the whole wide world; I absolutely love him. I respect him, I admire him and I am so grateful that I got to make two movies with him. We both kind of find ourselves in this new stage of our career, and so much of Atomic Blonde was influenced by John Wick. So, if we can get those two characters to meet up in a timeline that makes sense, I’m all about it.”

Unfortunately, as Atomic Blonde, which is based on the graphic novel The Coldest City, is set in 1989 and John Wick takes places in the modern era, it seems unlikely that the timelines between the two characters will match for the hypothetical crossover.

However, both franchises currently have their own projects in the works as Theron has recently confirmed Atomic Blonde 2 is in development at Netflix, while the John Wick series has three projects in the pipeline including a female-led spinoff film titled Ballerina, a prequel TV show titled The Continental, and the next feature film, John Wick: Chapter 4, which will seemingly begin production once Keanu Reeves has finished his commitments to The Matrix 4.
