Jude Law set to play Captain Hook in Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy

July 8, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Variety revealed late on Tuesday that Jude Law will star in the upcoming live-action Peter Pan & Wendy movie from Disney as the iconic villain Captain Hook. The actor is still in talks but is said to be close to finalising his deal for the role.

David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) will direct the live-action remake of the 1953’s animated classic. Lowery will also serve as one of the co-writers of the script with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker will produce, re-teaming Lowery with his Pete’s Dragon collaborator.

Jude Law is fresh off HBO’s The New Pope and is still playing Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films. He joins a cast that includes Alexander Molony (The Reluctant Landlord) as Peter Pan and Ever Anderson (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) as Wendy.

Sources close Variety say that Peter Pan & Wendy is being targeted as a theatrical release, as opposed to a Disney+ original like 2020’s Lady and the Tramp. This is another in a long line of remakes coming from Disney with the studio fresh off the successes of Aladdin and The Lion King, both of which took home over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
