Solo: A Star Wars Story continuation rumoured for Disney+

July 29, 2020 by Samuel Brace

A new rumour suggests that Solo: A Star Wars Story will get to continue its plot via a Disney+ TV show.

When it comes to Star Wars, there are plenty of rumours and speculations. Recently, we heard that Lando might be getting his own show with Donald Glover reprising his role from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Now we are hearing that Lucasfilm is also looking to continue Solo‘s story directly via a TV show on Disney+. This latest rumour comes from Star Wars Unity, reporting:

“With Disney+ being the future of Star Wars, for now, and the movies being reserved for something else; that idea of a spin-off of Solo (likely involving crime syndicates such as Crimson Dawn and Black Sun) has evolved into a true continuation of where the story left off at the end of the 2018 film. That does mean the same cast, who are expected to return….it sounds like this Solo continuation will set up a future Lando series.”

They go on to mention a rumoured Darth Maul series but that this was probably just a reference to the planned Solo continuation that will likely feature Maul.

“That’s where this whole Solo Disney+ thing is right now. It started out as just a spin-off about the crime syndicates and looks to have now evolved into a full continuation; and it’s possible it’s due to the fan support of the original movie much like the #SaveCloneWars campaign that resulted in the seventh season for that show.”

This news comes off the back of Solo star Alden Ehrenreich saying that he would be interested in reprising the role in the future so hopefully, this is something to be excited for going forward. We will have to wait and see!

A new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story features Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Tobias Beckett, Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Chewbacca, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as L3-37, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Qi’ra, Thandie Newton (Westworld) as Val and Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War) as Dryden Vos.
