Video Review – Hamilton on Disney+

July 3, 2020 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno reviews Disney+’s filmed version of the Hamilton stage musical…

Quite wild to think Hamilton is still a big deal five years after its original release, but with songs and acting like this, you can see why. Join our host EJ Moreno as he breaks down his feelings on the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical, as he’s never seen this before. Spell-binding and essential, this is precisely the type of content Disney should be putting out. You won’t want to miss this review, and you don’t want to miss Hamilton on Disney+.

“Hamilton” is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, the film transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way.

Hamilton arrives on Disney+ on July 3rd, and stars Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Jonathan Groff as King George; Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton; and Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton.
