Jeffrey Wright didn’t recognise Colin Farrell on the set of The Batman

August 29, 2020 by Amie Cranswick

While fans were getting excited over our first look at Robert Pattinson as the new Dark Knight in last weekend’s DC FanDome teaser trailer for The Batman, many failed to realise upon first watch that we also got a glimpse of Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. The Penguin.

If you missed old Oswald, it’s totally understandable given that actor Colin Farrell was almost completely hidden beneath make-up and prosthetics – so much so that his co-star Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon) apparently didn’t even recognise him on set!

“Talk about artists, man,” said Wright during an interview on The Jess Cagle Show (via The Playlist) “I’ve worked with that makeup artist before and it’s just incredible. Colin walked onto set one day, and I walked right past him [laughs]. I was like, ‘Okay, hey dude, what’s happening, where’s Colin are we going to shoot?’ It was, it’s pretty remarkable.”
