Lionsgate announces fifth John Wick film will shoot back-to-back with Chapter 4

August 7, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Fans of the Keanu Reeves-led action films got a wonderful treat today. Lionsgate, the studio behind the John Wick movie, confirmed today that they would go ahead with a fifth entry in the franchise. While the fourth film is still in early development, the head of the studio promised that fourth and fifth films will shoot back-to-back next year.

During an earnings call, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said, “We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”

With the announcement of John Wick: Chapter 5, this continues the expansion of this cinematic universe. A female-led spinoff titled Ballerina is in the works under director Len Wiseman (Underworld), and then we have the upcoming Starz  TV series The Continental, which reports say will look to premiere sometime after the fourth movie.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently scheduled for a Memorial Day weekend release on May 27th 2022.
