Gemma Chan and Kiki Layne cast in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry, Darling

October 8, 2020 by Ricky Church

Olivia Wilde’s next feature Don’t Worry, Darling has just added two more to its star-studded cast. Gemma Chan (Captain Marvel) and Kiki Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk) are the latest to join the film.

Layne will replace Dakota Johnson in the film after Johnson dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with Maggie Gyllenhaal’s latest film. The pair join Florence Pugh (Midsommar), Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984) and Harry Styles (Dunkirk). Styles is replacing Shia LaBeouf, who also had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Wilde will also star in the film.

Pugh will lead the cast as a housewife in 1950s America. Little is known about the project other than its setting in an isolated, perfect community, set in 1950s California desert, and will center on a Pugh’s housewife character as she uncovers a disturbing truth about her seemingly perfect life.

Don’t Worry, Darling was written by Katie Silberman based on a spec script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke. The project comes from New Line Cinema.
